Final Fantasy VI Review by Moomba

Gameplay: The gameplay of FFVI was so absorbing you had to continue playing. There was so much to explore and you’ll eventually discover amazing things that’ll make many different emotions run through you. The characters certainly wouldn’t be nearly as well done if it wasn’t for the Gameplay and vice versa. 95%

Graphics: 2D graphics not your kind of fun? Remember, this was made for the SNES so there was a limit on what they could do. but seeming as it could only be 2 Dimensional, just like most Square games, the graphics have been stretched to the limit and give a great feeling to the game. I personally like the graphics more than FFVII’s and VIII’s. 90%

Music: The music in VI is absolutely superb. Like the other SNES and NES FF’s soundtracks are pretty electronic. Nevertheless, the music sounds superb. From up-beat funky pieces to calm romance songs, FFVI’s soundtrack has a lot. It could well be one of the best soundtracks. Well done Uematsu! 94%

Ingenuity: There were loads of fun and challenging sidequests and you will have to pay attention to what you are doing. This game was the first to involve special moves like Limit Breaks though they rarely came and were pretty random. The battle system was really good and you pulled off a good attack then you always felt rewarded (at least I did). The magic system was different to the usual way of simply buying them or naturally learning them. The Espers would teach you the magic when you had them equipped so you’d have to do training if you wanted new magic. 92%

Storyline: Sheesh kebab this was amazing! The complex and intriguing storyline of VI was so incredible it really left you wanting to play on, charging through the caves and towns to find out more. The plot was so in-depth and the personality and backgrounds made it so very interesting. Probably the best storyline of all the FF games. 99%

Characters: The characters were also very in-depth and without the amazing history of most of them, this game wouldn’t be nearly as good whatsoever. As the game went on you would find out bits about each of the characters, learning about their gripping life an feelings. But to learn some extra bits, doing things not necessary in the story could let you learn more so the game would become more interesting. Unfortunately though, I think a little too many characters were made but the main ones were certainly well-made. 97%

Replay Value: FFVI can seem a little difficult if you’re not used to the difficulty of the old FFs but once you get used to that and realise that it isn’t hard at all then FFVI is enjoyable to play again and again. In the US Anthology there is a character growth meter which can help you want to master your characters to their best ability. 84%

Overall: This is one of the absolute classic Final Fantasy games. It has all the qualities of a perfect RPG and then more. The few flaws aren’t too noticeable at all so the game seems so incredibly amazing you feel you have to play. 93%
